ABOUT Leo Loomie, Fine Artist

Leo Loomie has been painting landscapes, seascapes, and Americana for more than 30 years.

A native New Yorker, Leo graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. He subsequently took graduate courses in painting and art history at Hunter and Adelphi colleges.

In 1968, Leo built a 31-foot trimaran sailboat with the goal of seeing the remote islands of the Pacific. This became an extended 8-year adventure which led him to Australia and the Far East. During this period of exploration, Leo worked in pen and ink which led to an interest in woodblock prints.

After selling the boat in Australia in 1976, he returned to the United States and settled in Albany, NY where he expanded his work to include digital art and textile painting on silk and cotton.

In 2021, Leo moved to Orlando, FL and continues to paint while also building solar lanterns.
